Changes for the 2018 Season!

Read Now

There are some exciting changes coming for the 2018 Action Pool Tour season.  Below is a summary of the biggest changes.

$10,000 Top 64 Invitational
For the past several years, the APT Champion and Runner-Up won free entry, hotel, and sometimes even airfare into a major national event.  However, this has led to a problem.  Each year by the 5th or 6th event, 2-3 players have a substantial points lead over the remainder of the field and the points race becomes irrelevant to most players.

Therefore, we are going to do something much different in 2018.  The top 64 APT members (those with an active one-year membership) after the November event, will be invited to play in the $10,000 Top 64 APT Invitational. Everyone who finishes in the top 16 of this event will get a portion of the prize fund and the Champion will pocket $2,500 based on a 64 player field.

We are confident that this will keep the points race interesting for more players and make the APT more competitive.  Click here for all the details on this awesome end-of-year event.

2018 Sponsors
We are extremely excited about the coalition of sponsors onboard for 2018.  It is important to note that these great companies have agreed to add cash to APT prize funds.  Without them, these events would not be possible so please, support the companies that support you!
  • Kamui
  • Diamond Billiard Products
  • Simonis Cloth
  • Aramith
  • Tiger
  • Predator
  • Viking
  • Ozone Billiards
  • CueSports International (CSI)
  • George Hammerbacher Instruction

VA State 10-Ball & 8-Ball Championships
The VA State 10-Ball & VA State 8-Ball Championships will now be restricted to the first 64 paid entries.  The Women's VA State 10-Ball & Women's VA State 8-Ball Championship will now be restricted to the first 16 paid entries.  Don't procrastinate!  These events will fill up quickly!  Click here for all the details about these awesome events.

APT YouTube Channel
In 2018, we will begin streaming to the APT YouTube channel and all recorded matches will be stored there for anyone to watch at any time.  Click here to visit the APT YouTube channel.

Women's Events
Unfortunately, we did not get the level of support needed to continue holding separate women's events and having a separate women's points race.  Therefore, separate women's events will not be held in 2018.

However, we are reinstituting the Top Female Bonus for 2018.  The top placing female (non-pro) in the tournament will receive a bonus based on how many females are in the field (see scale below).

# Females | Bonus
  • 1-2 | $0
  • 3-5 | $100
  • 6-8 | $200
  • 9-11 | $300
  • 12-14 | $400
  • 15-17 | $500
  • 18-20 | $600

Have you ever traveled several hours to a tournament feeling excited and confident, only to have a really tough draw or a few bad rolls?  Poof...just like that you are eliminated on the first day.  It happens to all of us on occasion but it's a bummer if you are looking forward to an action-packed weekend of pool.

That is why we almost always hold a 2nd Chance Tournament on day #2 (normally Sunday) of APT tour stops. Anyone eliminated prior to the start of the 2nd Chance Tournament, which is usually 12:30 p.m., may enter.  The usual format is as follows:

2nd Chance Tournament Details
  • Entry fee = 1/2 of normal entry fee
  • Race to 4 or 5 (depending on various factors)
  • Double elimination
  • Alternate break
  • Rack your own

2nd Chance Tournament Points
1st: (5 pts.) x (# of players)
2nd: (4 pts.) x (# of players)
3rd: (3 pts.) x (# of players)
4th: (2 pts.) x (# of players)
5th-6th: (1 pt.) x (# of players)
7th-8th: (1 pt.) x (# of players)
9th-12th: (1 pt.) x (# of players)
13th-16th: (1 pt.) x (# of players)
17th-24th: (1 pt.) x (# of players)
25th-32nd: (1 pt.) x (# of players)

So, when you attend an APT event and get eliminated on the first day, don't go home early!  Stay, play, and have a great time playing in the 2nd Chance Tournament.

For the 2018 season, we are going to conduct an awesome end-of-year event for the top 64 APT members in the points race.  We are calling this event the $10,000 Top 64 APT Invitational.

How it Works
The top 64 APT members (those who have active one-year memberships) will be invited to participate.  That's right...non-members will not be invited.

Each participant will pay a $75 entry fee and the APT will add $5,200 for a total prize fund of $10,000 based on a full field of 64!  Best of all, everyone who finishes in the top 16 is guaranteed prize fund money and the Champion is guaranteed $2,500 with a full field. This is a great prize fund to end the 2018 season.

Payouts*
1st: $2,500
2nd: $1,300
3rd: $950
4th: $750
5th-6th: $600 each
7th-8th: $450 each
9th-12th: $350 each
13th-16th: $250 each
Total: $10,000
*Based on a full field of 64

Remember, only active APT members can participate! Good luck!

Progressive Big Rack Contest

Read Now

At each APT event, we conduct a progressive Big Rack contest.  It has become an excellent way for players to win big bucks!

How it Works
Big Rack tickets are sold throughout the first day and at approximately 8 p.m., one ticket is randomly selected.  The person with the winning ticket has the opportunity to break a 10-ball rack and win money for each ball legally pocketed after the break.  The rules are as follows:
  • The person with the winning ticket must be the shooter.
  • If a ball is legally pocketed after the break, he or she can begin shooting for the cash.
  • Each ball that is legally pocketed after the break is worth 10% of the total prize fund.
  • The shooter may quit at any time and take whatever he or she has won up to that point.
  • If the shooter misses a called ball, he or she forfeits all money won up to that point.

Ticket Price
Tickets are $1 each or 25 for $20 and there is no limit on the number of tickets that may be purchased.

Good luck!

APT Points Race

Read Now

Each and every event matters and those that play more will earn more points and climb the points ladder faster.

How it Works
Players earn points based on how they finish in each event and the number of players in the field.  The higher you finish, the more points you earn.  The more players in the event, the more points you earn.  Here is how points are calculated for each event:
Main Event
1st:
(20 pts.) x (# of players)
2nd: (19 pts.) x (# of players)
3rd: (18 pts.) x (# of players)
4th: (17 pts.) x (# of players)
5th-6th: (16 pts.) x (# of players)
7th-8th: (15 pts.) x (# of players)
9th-12th: (14 pts.) x (# of players)
13th-16th: (13 pts.) x (# of players)
17th-24th: (12 pts.) x (# of players)
25th-32nd: (11 pts.) x (# of players)
33rd-48th: (10 pts.) x (# of players)
49th-64th: (9 pts.) x (# of players)
65th-96th: (8 pts.) x (# of players)
97th-128th: (7 pts.) x (# of players)

For example, if you finish in the 7th-8th position in an event with 68 players, you will earn 1,020 points (15 x 68).  If you don't play at all, you earn zero.

2nd Chance Tournament
1st:
 (5 pts.) x (# of players)
2nd: (4 pts.) x (# of players)
3rd: (3 pts.) x (# of players)
4th: (2 pts.) x (# of players)
5th-32nd: (1 pts.) x (# of players)
